Thai Pulled Beef
This is exactly the kind of recipe we love to make when we want a hearty, comforting meal loaded with flavor 😍
The beef becomes incredibly tender, the sauce is perfectly sweet and savory, and the notes of orange, ginger, and sesame make the whole dish absolutely irresistible.
Served over rice or rice noodles, with crisp vegetables and a finishing touch of green onions, this dish has everything to please.
A fragrant, comforting meal that always delivers.
Ingredients (4 to 6 servings)
For the sauce
2 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp Les Savoureux Roasted Garlic seasoning
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup sesame oil
2 tsp Les Savoureux Thai seasoning
½ cup maple syrup
Zest of 1 orange
Juice of 2 oranges (keep the squeezed orange halves for cooking)
¼ cup water
1 tsp cornstarch
For the beef
800 g to 1.2 kg chuck roast
Les Savoureux Thai seasoning, to taste (about 1 to 2 tbsp)
Salt and pepper, to taste
A drizzle of sesame oil
Vegetables and serving
1 cup carrots, finely diced
1 cup zucchini, finely diced
1 bell pepper, cut into thin strips
½ container mushrooms, thinly sliced
About 300 g bean sprouts
3 to 4 green onions, finely sliced
150 g rice noodles
🍳 Preparation
In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of sesame oil.
Season the roast on both sides with our Thai seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Sear the beef for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until nicely browned.
Place the squeezed orange halves at the bottom of the slow cooker, then place the beef on top.
In the same skillet, add all the sauce ingredients except the cornstarch. Bring to a boil, then let simmer for a few minutes.
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a few drops of water. Add this mixture to the sauce and stir well to thicken slightly.
Pour the sauce over the beef in the slow cooker.
Cook on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
Meanwhile, chop the vegetables and set aside.
Once the beef is cooked, remove the oranges from the slow cooker.
Add the carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, mushrooms, and bean sprouts. Keep the green onions for serving.
Continue cooking for about 1 hour on LOW or warm mode, just enough to slightly soften the vegetables while keeping a nice texture.
Shred the beef directly in the sauce.
Add the orange zest just before serving.
Serve over rice or rice noodles, then top with green onions.
